Monstera Laniata Variegated is a stunning and rare variety of the Monstera genus, prized for its beautiful variegated foliage. The leaves are large, heart-shaped, and as they grow more developed become fenestrated. The variegation patterns can significantly vary from plant to plant. With some leaves showing more variegation than others, making each leaf unique. Like other Monstera species, Monstera Laniata Variegated is a climbing plant that can reach impressive heights with proper support, making it a striking addition to any indoor garden.

Please note: These plants have been grown in seedling plug trays and therefore the root systems will not be as fully established as a larger pot size and will require extra attention. Plants are on average 5cm in length and photos on the website are indicative only. Please take this into consideration with each purchase of the Bare Bottom Babies.  The dispatch team always pick the best plants that are available.

Monstera Laniata Variegated Care Plan

1. Light:

  • Bright, Indirect Light: Monstera Laniata Variegated thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight should be avoided, as it can cause the delicate variegated sections to burn or discolour. Insufficient light can result in reduced variegation and slower growth.

2. Watering:

  • Moderate Watering: Water the plant when the top 2-3 inches of soil feel dry to the touch. Monstera Laniata Variegated prefers consistently moist but not waterlogged soil. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent excess water from accumulating.

3. Humidity:

  • High Humidity: This plant thrives in high humidity levels, ideally around 60-80%. To maintain adequate humidity, mist the leaves regularly, use a humidifier, or place the plant on a humidity tray. High humidity helps keep the variegated leaves vibrant and healthy.

4. Temperature:

  • Warm Temperatures: Monstera Laniata Variegated prefers warm temperatures between 18-29°C. Avoid exposing it to temperatures below 15°C or sudden temperature changes, which can stress the plant and affect its growth.

5. Soil:

  • Well-Draining, Rich Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix that retains moisture without becoming waterlogged. A mix containing peat moss, perlite, and orchid bark is ideal, providing good aeration and preventing root rot.

6. Fertilisation:

  • Regular Feeding: Feed your Monstera Laniata Variegated every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Reduce feeding during the fall and winter when the plant’s growth naturally slows down.

7. Pruning:

  • Prune to Shape: Regularly prune any yellowing or damaged leaves to keep the plant looking its best. You can also prune to control the size and shape of the plant, promoting bushier growth. Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep them clean.

8. Repotting:

  • Repot Every 1-2 Years: Repot the plant every 1-2 years or when it becomes root-bound. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one, and refresh the soil to provide new nutrients. This encourages healthy growth and gives the roots more space to expand.

9. Support:

  • Provide Climbing Support: Monstera Laniata Variegated is a climbing plant that benefits from support such as a moss pole or trellis. Providing support will help the plant grow upwards and develop larger, more fenestrated leaves.
