Description:
Aglaonema ‘Red Army’ is a striking and uncommon hybrid prized for its richly patterned foliage and compact growth habit. A cross between Aglaonema pictum tricolor and Aglaonema rotundum, this plant showcases the best of both parents — bold, camouflage-style variegation in shades of green layered across broad, softly rounded leaves, often accompanied by hints of burgundy or pink along the undersides and petioles.

This cultivar remains relatively compact, making it ideal for display in smaller spaces or as a standout piece in a foliage collection. Its unique colouration and rare availability make it a collector’s favourite and a conversation starter.

Care Plan

Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Tolerates lower light conditions but may lose vibrancy in deep shade. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Water:
Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering during cooler months.

Humidity:
Enjoys moderate to high humidity (50–70%). Benefits from occasional misting or placement near a humidifier, especially in drier indoor environments.

Temperature:
Thrives in temperatures between 18–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.

Soil:
Use a well-draining potting mix, ideally a chunky aroid blend with perlite, coco coir, and orchid bark to promote healthy root development.

Fertiliser:
Feed monthly during the growing season (spring to early autumn) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser. Avoid over-fertilising.

Growth Habit:
Naturally compact with a bushy form. Slow-growing but responds well to stable conditions over time.
