Alocasia no ID

An unusual collector's Alocasia with striking foliage and an as-yet unidentified cultivar name. Like many rare Alocasias, it is grown for its bold leaves, architectural form, and tropical appeal. While its exact identity remains unknown, its care requirements are similar to most tropical Alocasia species, making it an excellent addition to any indoor plant collection.

Light

Bright, indirect light. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage, while insufficient light may slow growth.

Water

Keep the soil lightly and consistently moist, allowing the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry before watering again. Avoid letting the plant sit in water, as Alocasias are prone to root rot.

Humidity

Prefers high humidity (60% or higher). A humidifier or pebble tray will help keep the foliage looking its best.

Temperature

Thrives in temperatures between 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.

Soil

Use a rich, airy, well-draining potting mix. A blend containing premium potting mix, orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir works well to provide both moisture retention and excellent drainage.

Fertiliser

Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding during the cooler months when growth slows.

Additional Information

As with many Alocasias, older leaves may naturally yellow and die back as new growth emerges. This is normal. Keep the leaves clean to maximise photosynthesis, and inspect regularly for common pests such as spider mites and thrips. With consistent warmth, humidity, and careful watering, this unidentified Alocasia will reward you with lush, impressive foliage
