Description:
Alocasia ‘Okinawa Silver’ is a stunning and rare cultivar known for its elegant silvery-green foliage with a subtle metallic sheen. The large, arrowhead-shaped leaves are adorned with prominent dark green veins, creating a striking contrast that enhances its visual appeal. This Alocasia has an upright, tropical growth habit and thrives in warm, humid conditions. Its unique colouring makes it a standout in any plant collection, whether grown indoors or in a shaded outdoor space.

Care Plan for Alocasia ‘Okinawa Silver’

Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning sun can enhance its silver tones, but avoid harsh direct sunlight, which may scorch the leaves.

Water:
Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in cooler months when growth slows.

Humidity:
Requires high humidity (60% or higher) to thrive. Use a humidifier, mist the leaves occasionally, or place the plant near a pebble tray with water to maintain moisture levels.

Temperature:
Grows best in warm temperatures between 18–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C, as this may cause dormancy.

Soil:
A well-draining, chunky mix with peat, perlite, and orchid bark is ideal. Ensuring good aeration helps prevent root rot.

Fertiliser:
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.

Pruning & Maintenance:
Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves to encourage new growth. Regularly clean the leaves to keep them free from dust and enhance photosynthesis.
