Alocasia sp. ‘Sabrina’ Aurea
Please review photos carefully
Alocasia ‘Sabrina Aurea’ is a rare and highly sought-after variegated aroid, prized for its elegant form and luminous golden marbling. Originating from a narrow-leaf Alocasia ‘Sabrina’ lineage, this cultivar features elongated, gently undulating leaves paired with striking aurea variegation in tones of lime, chartreuse, and rich yellow.
Each leaf is uniquely patterned, with variegation ranging from soft mottling to bold sectoral splashes. The slender, often subtly patterned petioles enhance its architectural look, making it a standout in any indoor plant collection.
Unlike white variegated forms, aurea variegation is caused by yellow pigment, giving the plant a warmer, more vibrant appearance. Due to its rarity and slower growth, Sabrina Aurea is considered a collector’s plant and is best suited to growers with some experience in aroid care.
🌱 Care Guide — Alocasia ‘Sabrina Aurea’
Light
Bright, indirect light is essential. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the delicate variegated areas. Insufficient light may reduce variegation over time.
Watering
Keep soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce frequency in cooler months.
Humidity
Thrives in moderate to high humidity (60%+). Low humidity may cause browning along leaf edges, particularly on variegated sections.
Temperature
Prefers warm conditions between 18–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
Soil
Use a well-draining, chunky aroid mix (e.g. orchid bark, perlite, and high-quality potting mix) to maintain airflow around roots.
Fertiliser
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during the growing season. Avoid over-fertilising, as variegated plants are more sensitive.
Growth Habit
A rhizomatous plant that produces leaves sequentially. Older leaves may naturally yellow and die back as new growth emerges.
