Alocasia sarian Variegata
Description:
Alocasia sarian Variegata is an elegant hybrid cultivar admired for its bold stature and dramatic foliage. This plant features long, arrow-shaped leaves with pronounced white midribs and distinctive variegation that ranges from creamy white to pale yellow or green, often streaked or marbled unpredictably across the dark green surface. The glossy leaves sit atop sturdy, upright stems that may also display mottled patterns. With its striking contrast and architectural presence, this variegated Alocasia brings a tropical flair to any indoor or greenhouse setting.
Care Plan
Light:
Provide bright, indirect light to maintain vivid variegation. A few hours of gentle morning sun can be beneficial, but avoid harsh direct sunlight, which may scorch the lighter leaf sections.
Water:
Water when the top 2–4 cm of the soil feels dry. Maintain consistent moisture, but never let the soil become waterlogged. Reduce watering in the cooler months.
Humidity:
Prefers high humidity (60% or above). Low humidity can cause browning on leaf edges, so consider using a humidifier or humidity tray.
Temperature:
Optimal temperatures range between 18–28°C. Avoid cold drafts and ensure it stays above 15°C to prevent stress.
Soil:
Use a free-draining, chunky aroid mix containing elements like perlite, orchid bark, and coco peat to ensure proper aeration.
Fertiliser:
Feed with a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. Avoid over-fertilising, which can damage roots.
