Alocasia Sulawesi ‘Karpet’
Description
Alocasia Sulawesi ‘Karpet’, also sold as ‘Green Carpet’, is a striking foliage plant admired for its rich green leaves, pronounced veins and deeply textured surface. The raised areas between the veins create a quilted, carpet-like appearance, giving the foliage depth and character. A beautiful choice for collectors who appreciate unusual leaf textures and lush tropical greenery.
Care Plan
Light:
Provide bright, indirect light or filtered greenhouse light. Protect from harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.
Water:
Water when the upper layer of the growing medium begins to dry, while some moisture remains below. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Avoid keeping the medium constantly saturated or allowing it to dry out completely.
Humidity:
Prefers high humidity, ideally around 60–80%, with gentle airflow. Consistent humidity supports healthy leaf development.
Temperature:
Warm conditions around 18–29°C are ideal. Protect from temperatures below 15°C, cold draughts and sudden temperature changes.
Soil:
Use an airy, well-draining growing medium that retains some moisture without becoming waterlogged. Foliage Factory
Fertiliser:
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser at the manufacturer’s recommended indoor-plant dilution every 3–4 weeks during active growth. Reduce feeding when growth slows.
