Alocasia tandurusa Jacklyn - Bare Bottom Baby
Alocasia tandurusa ‘Jacklyn’ is a striking aroid known for its deeply lobed, dragon-like foliage with unique variegation. The leaves are elongated with serrated edges, giving them a fierce, prehistoric appearance.
Care Plan
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid direct sun exposure, as it can scorch the delicate variegated areas.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out before watering again. Reduce watering slightly during cooler months.
Humidity: Requires high humidity (60%+). If the air is too dry, consider misting, using a humidity tray, or placing it in a greenhouse setup.
Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures between 18–27°C. Avoid exposure to temperatures below 15°C, as it can cause stress and slow growth.
Soil: A well-draining, chunky mix is best—consider a blend of orchid bark, perlite, and peat-based soil to ensure aeration.
Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2–4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.
Repotting: Repot when the roots outgrow the current container, typically every 1–2 years. Choose a pot with good drainage.
