Alocasia Venom
Alocasia ‘Venom’
Description
Alocasia ‘Venom’ is a striking collector’s plant with shield-shaped leaves and distinctive long, curling tips. Its foliage can develop soft silvery-green tones as it matures. It grows upright from a compact base and does not need a climbing pole.
Care plan
Light: Bright, indirect light. Protect the leaves from harsh afternoon sun.
Water: Water when the top 2–4 cm of potting mix feels dry. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. Reduce watering when growth slows.
Humidity: Prefers 60–75% humidity with gentle airflow. Dry air may cause the narrow leaf tips to brown.
Temperature: Keep warm, ideally 18–28°C. Avoid cold draughts and air-conditioning.
Soil: Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix with bark, coco chips and perlite. Always use a pot with drainage.
Fertiliser: Apply a diluted, balanced fertiliser every 2–4 weeks during active growth. Reduce feeding in cooler months.
