Amydrium medium variegata is a stunning, slow-growing aroid that’s known for its striking variegation and unique foliage. It features elongated, deeply lobed leaves that often have creamy white or yellow markings mixed with deep green. These markings can vary in intensity, making each plant distinctive. The leaves can also develop a leathery texture as they mature.

Care Plan:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Amydrium medium variegata thrives in well-lit areas but should be shielded from direct sunlight, as it may cause the variegation to burn.
  • Water: Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Ensure the pot has good drainage to avoid root rot. Keep the humidity around 60% or higher for the best growth.
  • Temperature: Maintain a temperature range of 18–26°C. This plant doesn't like the cold, so keep it away from drafts or places with temperature fluctuations.
  • Soil: A well-draining, aerated potting mix is essential, such as a mix designed for aroids or orchids.
  • Fertiliser: Fertilise once a month during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser. Reduce feeding in the winter when growth slows down.

This plant does well as a climber or a hanging plant, especially if it’s given a moss pole or trellis to climb. The variegation tends to be more pronounced when the plant gets enough light, so make sure it’s placed in a bright spot!
