Anthurium 'Dark Phoenix' Variegata - Bare Bottom Baby
Anthurium ‘Dark Phoenix’ Variegata
Description:
Anthurium ‘Dark Phoenix’ Variegata is a striking and highly sought-after hybrid known for its dramatic foliage and rare variegation. Its large, velvety leaves display deep emerald to near-black tones, often contrasted with creamy-white, mint, or marbled yellow variegation that gives each plant a unique appearance. The bold contrast between the dark base and bright variegation makes it a collector’s showpiece. As the plant matures, its leaves develop an elongated, heart-like shape with a satin sheen, adding a luxurious tropical flair to any indoor collection.
Care Plan:
Light: Prefers bright, filtered light. Avoid direct sunlight, which may scorch the foliage or fade the variegation.
Water: Keep the soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. Allow the top few centimetres to dry out before watering again. Use well-draining media to prevent root rot.
Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (70% or above). Mist regularly or use a humidifier if kept indoors.
Temperature: Ideal range is between 20–28 °C. Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 15 °C.
Soil: Use a chunky, free-draining aroid mix containing orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir for aeration.
Fertiliser: Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding in winter.
Propagation: Can be propagated through division or stem cuttings once the plant is established and actively growing.
