Anthurium veitchii
Anthurium veitchii, commonly known as the King Anthurium, is an impressive tropical aroid admired for its exceptionally long, deeply rippled leaves. As the plant matures, its pendulous foliage can reach remarkable lengths, creating a bold and architectural display. Its glossy green leaves and distinctive corrugated texture make it a striking addition to any indoor plant collection.
Care Plan for Anthurium veitchii
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which may scorch the leaves.
Water: Water when the top 2–3 cm of the growing medium feels dry. Keep it lightly moist but never waterlogged, allowing excess water to drain freely.
Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity, ideally above 60%. Good airflow is important to help prevent fungal issues.
Temperature: Prefers warm conditions between 18–28°C. Protect from cold draughts and temperatures below 15°C.
Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix containing ingredients such as orchid bark, perlite, coco chips and quality potting mix.
Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength every four to six weeks during active growth. Reduce feeding during the cooler months.
