Description:
Alocasia odora ‘California Tri-Colour’ is a rare and highly sought-after variegated cultivar of Alocasia odora, prized for its stunning three-toned foliage. Care Plan for Alocasia odora ‘California Tri-Colour’
Light:
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Some gentle morning sun can enhance variegation, but avoid harsh midday sunlight, which may scorch the delicate leaves.
Water:
Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in cooler months when growth slows.
Humidity:
Prefers high humidity (60% or higher). If the air is dry, use a humidifier, mist the leaves, or place the plant near a pebble tray with water.
Temperature:
Grows best in warm temperatures between 18–27°C. Avoid exposure to cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C, as this can cause dormancy or stress.
Soil:
Use a well-draining, chunky mix containing peat, perlite, and orchid bark to support root aeration and moisture balance. Aroid-specific mixes work well.
Fertiliser:
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4 weeks during spring and summer. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter when the plant's growth slows.
Pruning & Maintenance:
Trim off any yellowing or damaged leaves to encourage healthy new growth. Wipe leaves regularly to remove dust and prevent pests.
