Monstera 'adansonii Mint' - Bare Bottom Baby
Monstera 'adansonii Mint', often known as the Mint Monstera, is a striking tropical plant admired for its unique foliage. This variety is a member of the Monstera family and features heart-shaped leaves with distinctive fenestrations (natural holes) that develop as the plant matures. The "Mint" in its name refers to its vibrant, minty-green colour, which adds a refreshing touch to any indoor space. The plant's glossy, textured leaves and climbing habit make it a popular choice for plant enthusiasts looking to enhance their interiors with a touch of the tropics.
Please note: These plants have been grown in seedling plug trays and therefore the root systems will not be as fully established as a larger pot size and will require extra attention. Plants are on average 5cm in length and photos on the website are indicative only. Please take this into consideration with each purchase of the Bare Bottom Babies. The dispatch team always pick the best plants that are available.
Care Plan:
- Light: Monstera adansonii Mint thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light conditions but may grow more slowly and produce fewer fenestrated leaves. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.
- Watering: Water the plant when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry to the touch. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot. During the winter months, reduce watering as the plant’s growth slows down.
- Humidity: This plant prefers higher humidity levels, ideally around 60% or higher. To maintain optimal humidity, consider using a humidifier or placing the plant on a humidity tray. Misting the leaves occasionally can also help.
- Temperature: Monstera adansonii Mint enjoys warm temperatures between 18°C and 27°C. Avoid placing the plant in areas with drafts or sudden temperature fluctuations.
- Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a blend of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark. This mix helps ensure good aeration and prevents water from pooling around the roots.
- Fertilising: Feed the plant with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding during the winter months when growth slows.
