Dracaena goldieana, commonly known as Goldie’s Dracaena, is a striking tropical plant admired for its unique foliage. Its broad, lance-shaped leaves display an intricate pattern of silver-green and dark green stripes, creating a mesmerising, almost mosaic-like effect. Unlike many other Dracaena species, this one remains relatively compact, making it a great choice for indoor spaces.
Native to the rainforests of West Africa, Dracaena goldieana thrives in warm, humid environments. It’s a slow-growing species that adds an elegant touch to plant collections, especially for those who appreciate foliage with bold variegation.
Dracaena goldieana Care Plan
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures between 18–27°C. Protect it from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
Humidity: Requires moderate to high humidity. Regular misting, a pebble tray, or a humidifier can help maintain optimal conditions.
Watering: Keep the soil lightly moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in cooler months.
Soil: Well-draining, rich, and slightly acidic soil mix. A blend of peat, perlite, and pine bark works well.
Fertiliser: Feed monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.
Pruning: Minimal pruning is required. Remove any yellow or damaged leaves to maintain plant health.
