Epipremnum auruem Devil's Ivy Pothos
Description
One of the world's most popular and easiest houseplants, Epipremnum aureum 'Devil's Ivy' is prized for its trailing vines and heart-shaped leaves splashed with green and golden-yellow variegation. Fast-growing and incredibly adaptable, it's perfect for hanging baskets, shelves, or climbing a moss pole. Its forgiving nature makes it an excellent choice for beginners and experienced plant lovers alike.
Care Guide
☀️ Light:
Thrives in bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation, but is highly tolerant of lower light conditions. Avoid prolonged direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the foliage.
💧 Water:
Allow the top 2–5 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. Reduce watering during cooler months.
🌡 Temperature:
Prefers temperatures between 18–30°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.
💦 Humidity:
Average household humidity is sufficient, though higher humidity will encourage larger, healthier leaves and more vigorous growth.
🌱 Soil:
Use a free-draining, premium indoor potting mix enriched with perlite or orchid bark to provide excellent aeration.
🌿 Fertiliser:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding during autumn and winter.
🐾 Pet Friendly:
❌ No. Toxic if ingested by cats, dogs, and people due to calcium oxalate crystals.
Growth Habit:
A vigorous trailing or climbing vine that can reach several metres long indoors with the right support and care. Pruning encourages fuller, bushier growth.
