Epipremnum Bali Hanoman Var
A rare tropical beauty with distinctive foliage
Description:
Epipremnum 'Bali Hanoman' Variegated is a striking and highly sought-after cultivar known for its dramatic variegation and unique leaf shape. Named after the mythical monkey warrior Hanoman from Balinese and Javanese folklore, this plant stands out with thick, leathery leaves displaying bold marbling in shades of cream, mint, and lime against a deep green background. Mature leaves may develop subtle fenestrations, adding further interest and character. This cultivar is relatively new to the market and prized among collectors for its resilience and exotic appearance.
Care Plan (Australian Conditions):
-
Light:
Bright, indirect light is ideal. It can tolerate lower light, but strong variegation is best maintained with consistent filtered light. Avoid harsh midday sun which can scorch the leaves. -
Water:
Allow the top 2–4 cm of soil to dry between waterings. Water less frequently during cooler months. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot. -
Humidity:
Prefers higher humidity (60%+), but adapts well to typical indoor conditions. Mist occasionally or use a humidifier during dry periods. -
Temperature:
Best suited to temperatures between 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and do not expose to temperatures below 12°C. -
Soil:
A well-draining aroid mix is ideal—try a combination of premium potting mix, perlite, and orchid bark. -
Fertiliser:
Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter. -
Growth Habit:
A vining/climbing aroid that benefits from a moss pole or support to encourage larger leaves and mature form.
