Fern Microsorum punctatum 'Dragons Wing' - Perfectly Imperfect plants
Microsorum punctatum 'Dragon’s Wing' is an exotic, epiphytic fern known for its striking, elongated fronds with a unique, wavy texture that resembles dragon wings. The vibrant green leaves are thick and leathery, adding a dramatic tropical touch to any indoor or shaded outdoor space. This fern thrives in high humidity and is well-suited for terrariums, vivariums, and shaded gardens. Its resilient nature makes it a great choice for both experienced and novice plant collectors.
Care Plan
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to partial shade. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures between 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.
Humidity: Requires high humidity (60% or higher). Regular misting, a pebble tray, or a humidifier can help maintain adequate moisture levels.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top layer of the substrate begins to dry out. Reduce watering in cooler months.
Soil: Prefers a well-draining, rich organic mix, such as a blend of peat, perlite, and orchid bark. Can also be grown epiphytically on wood or mossy surfaces.
Fertiliser: Apply a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.
