Ficus triangularis ‘Albo Variegata’ is a striking ornamental plant prized for its unusual triangular-shaped leaves edged in creamy white variegation. Unlike many ficus species, this one has a naturally compact and bushy growth habit, making it an excellent choice for both indoor collections and decorative feature plants. Its patterned foliage gives a fresh, bright look, and when mature, the plant develops a dense, tree-like form. Compared to its cousin, Ficus benjamina, it is slower growing and less prone to dropping leaves, making it a more forgiving option for enthusiasts.

Light

• Prefers bright, indirect light.

• Can tolerate some direct morning or late-afternoon sun, but avoid harsh midday exposure which may scorch variegated leaves.

• Low light will reduce variegation and slow growth.

Watering

• Allow the top 3–5 cm of soil to dry out before watering again.

• Keep the soil evenly moist but never soggy, as ficus roots are sensitive to overwatering.

• Reduce watering slightly during the cooler months.

Humidity

• Average household humidity is generally sufficient, but the plant benefits from moderate to high humidity.

• Occasional misting or a pebble tray can help in drier conditions.

Temperature

• Ideal range: 18–28 °C.

• Protect from cold drafts, sudden temperature fluctuations, and avoid placing near heating or cooling vents.

Soil

• A free-draining potting mix with good aeration is essential.

• A blend of high-quality indoor potting mix with added perlite or orchid bark works well.

Fertiliser

• Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during the active growing season (spring to early autumn).

• Reduce feeding in winter when growth slows.
