Description

Also known as Homalomena.
Adelonema wallisii ‘Camouflage’ is a compact, shade-loving aroid prized for its uniquely patterned foliage. The leaves are broad and softly oval with a slightly velvety texture, displaying a layered mix of greens that create a mottled, “camouflage” effect. Subtle tonal variations run across each leaf, giving depth and visual movement without harsh contrast.

This species naturally forms a dense, clumping habit, making it ideal for low, full displays in pots or shaded garden settings. Compared to more structural aroids, ‘Camouflage’ offers a softer, more understated aesthetic, well suited to interiors and tropical understory plantings. Its manageable size and forgiving nature make it a versatile option across a wide range of environments.

Care Plan

Light
Prefers low to bright indirect light. It performs particularly well in shaded positions where many other plants may struggle. Avoid direct sunlight, as this can cause leaf burn and fade the patterning.

Watering
Keep soil consistently lightly moist. Allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings, but do not let the plant dry out completely. Overly wet conditions should be avoided to prevent root issues.

Humidity
Thrives in moderate to high humidity but adapts well to typical indoor conditions. Higher humidity will encourage fuller growth and better leaf quality.

Temperature
Prefers stable temperatures between 18°C and 28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid exposure to temperatures below 15°C.

Soil
Use a well-draining, aerated mix. A blend of potting mix, orchid bark, and perlite will provide the balance of moisture retention and airflow required for healthy root development.
