Monstera adansonii ‘Mint’
Description:
Monstera adansonii ‘Mint’ is a rare and highly sought-after variety of Monstera adansonii, known for its distinctive mint-green variegation. Its fenestrated leaves feature a marbled mix of soft green and creamy mint tones, creating a unique and visually striking appearance. This vining plant thrives when given proper support, such as a moss pole, but can also be grown as a trailing specimen in a hanging basket. With its fast-growing nature and elegant foliage, Monstera adansonii ‘Mint’ is a prized addition to any plant collection.
Care Plan
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its variegation. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as this can cause leaf burn.
Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist but well-draining. Allow the top two to three centimetres of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent overwatering and root rot. Water less frequently during cooler months.
Humidity: Requires high humidity levels of 60 percent or more for optimal growth. A humidifier, pebble tray, or regular misting can help maintain suitable conditions.
Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 18 and 27 degrees Celsius. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations.
Soil: Grows best in an airy, well-draining soil mix that includes orchid bark, perlite, and peat-based potting mix.
Fertiliser: Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every two to four weeks during the growing season. Reduce feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.
Growth Habit: A vigorous climber that benefits from structural support like a moss pole to encourage larger leaf development. Can also be left to trail naturally.
