Description:
Monstera Borgiana 'Albo' is a rare and stunning variety of Monstera, prized for its striking variegation, with white or cream-coloured patterns contrasting against deep green leaves. Unlike the more common Monstera deliciosa, the Borgiana has a more elongated leaf shape with fenestrations (natural holes) that add to its unique appeal. When growing from a rooted stick cutting, the plant is in its early stages of development and will gradually develop its iconic split leaves as it matures.

The cutting will typically feature a segment of the stem with visible aerial roots and possibly a node, ensuring that it can continue growing and eventually produce new leaves. Its variegation makes it a highly sought-after specimen for collectors.

Care Plan:

• Light: Bright, indirect light is essential to maintain the variegation, but avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the delicate white parts of the leaves. Variegated plants tend to need more light than fully green varieties.
• Water: Keep the soil evenly moist, but not waterlogged. Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Ensure that the pot has good drainage to avoid root rot.
• Humidity: High humidity (60-80%) helps encourage healthy growth. Consider misting the plant or placing it near a humidifier if the air is too dry.
• Temperature: Ideal temperature range is between 18°C and 28°C. Avoid temperatures below 15°C, as cold can slow down growth or damage the plant.
• Soil: Use a well-draining, chunky potting mix. A mix of peat, perlite, and orchid bark will provide the right environment for the roots to develop and allow the plant to grow strongly.
• Fertiliser: Feed monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser. You can dilute it to half strength to avoid burning the young plant.
• Support: As the cutting begins to grow, it may need a moss pole or stake for support, as Monsteras are natural climbers. A support will encourage the plant to grow upright and help the leaves develop their signature fenestrations.
• Repotting: Repot when the roots outgrow the current pot, usually every 1-2 years. Use a pot that allows room for the roots to expand.
