Monstera 'Burle Marx's Flame' is a rare and visually striking Monstera cultivar distinguished by its deeply lobed, flame-like leaves. This plant's foliage is its most captivating feature, with large, glossy, dark green leaves that exhibit intricate serrations, resembling flames. The plant's compact growth habit sets it apart from the typical vining Monstera varieties, making it suitable for indoor cultivation in smaller spaces. The leaves of Monstera 'Burle Marx's Flame' are glossy and deeply pinnatifid, meaning they have deep cuts or divisions, giving them a characteristic flame-like appearance. The leaf blades are elongated and display pronounced lobes that curl inward, creating a sense of movement. Unlike other Monsteras that tend to grow in a more trailing or climbing fashion, this cultivar remains more compact, with a bushier growth habit.

Monstera 'Burle Marx's Flame' Care Guide:

  • Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light but can adapt to moderate light conditions. Avoid exposing the plant to direct sunlight, as this can cause leaf scorching.

  • Watering: Water when the top 2–3 cm of the growing medium is dry to the touch. Monstera 'Burle Marx's Flame' prefers consistently moist but not waterlogged soil, so ensure proper drainage to prevent root rot.

  • Humidity: As a tropical plant, it benefits from high humidity levels (60% or higher). Regular misting or placing the plant near a humidifier will help replicate its natural environment and promote healthy growth.

  • Temperature: Ideal temperatures range between 18–27°C. Keep the plant away from cold drafts and temperatures below 13°C, as it is sensitive to cold.

  • Soil: A well-aerated, well-draining aroid mix is best. A mix containing peat, perlite, and orchid bark will provide the necessary aeration and moisture retention.

  • Fertilser: Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.
