Monstera deliciosa Legacy
Monstera deliciosa ‘Legacy’ — Description
Monstera deliciosa ‘Legacy’ is a striking variegated selection of Monstera deliciosa, prized for its large, split leaves patterned with green, cream and soft mint tones. Its variegation can appear as marbling, speckles or broader patches, with each leaf developing its own pattern. As the plant matures, the leaves can become larger and more deeply fenestrated, especially when given support to climb.
‘Legacy’ is a trade and collector name used for a variegated Monstera; descriptions of its exact lineage vary. The amount and pattern of variegation can also differ from leaf to leaf, and future growth is not guaranteed to match existing foliage. Mulliken Nursery
Care Plan
Light
- Provide bright, indirect light to support healthy growth and maintain the existing variegation.
- Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves, especially the lighter sections.
- In low light, growth may slow and the plant may produce smaller leaves.
Watering
- Water when the top few centimetres of the potting mix feel dry.
- Water thoroughly, then allow excess water to drain away.
- Avoid keeping the mix constantly wet, as this can lead to root problems.
Humidity
- متوسط to high humidity supports healthy foliage.
- Keep the plant away from very dry air and strong heating or cooling vents.
Temperature
- Prefers warm, stable conditions around 18–28°C.
- Protect it from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
Soil
- Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix that retains some moisture while allowing air to reach the roots.
- Ensure the pot has drainage holes.
Fertiliser
- Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser at a diluted strength during active growth in spring and summer.
- Reduce feeding during the cooler months.
Additional Information
- Provide a moss pole, plank or other sturdy support as the plant grows; climbing can encourage larger leaves and more mature fenestrations.
- Variegated areas contain less chlorophyll than green areas, so steady bright indirect light helps support growth.
