Monstera Lechleriana Variegated
This stunning and rarer variegated form of Monstera lechleriana features bold cream-to-white marbling across lush green leaves. While juvenile plants have entire (unfenestrated) foliage, mature plants develop dramatic oval fenestrations, much like a cross between Monstera adansonii and Monstera deliciosa, but with a more elongated leaf shape and thicker texture.
The variegation pattern can vary from speckled and marbled to larger sectoral patches, and tends to hold well across new growth when kept in optimal conditions.
🪴 Care Plan – Monstera lechleriana 'Variegata'
-
Light: Bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation. Can tolerate dappled sun, but avoid harsh direct rays.
-
Water: Water when the top 3–5 cm of the soil feels dry. Avoid letting it fully dry out or sit soggy.
-
Humidity: Prefers high humidity (above 60%). Will appreciate misting or a humidifier.
-
Temperature: Thrives between 18–28°C. Keep protected from cold drafts and sudden drops.
-
Soil: Well-draining aroid mix (orchid bark, perlite, coco coir/peat).
-
Fertiliser: Use a balanced liquid fertiliser monthly during the growing season.
-
Support: Provide a pole or trellis as it begins to climb for optimal growth and leaf development.
