A striking climbing aroid with elongated, glossy leaves that are dramatically splashed or streaked with creamy white variegation. Unlike the more common split-leaf Monsteras, Monstera standleyana stays elegantly narrow and compact, making it an excellent choice for small spaces or a vertical feature when grown on a totem. The ‘Cobra’ form is prized for its bold, irregular variegation pattern, giving each leaf a unique appearance.

This species is fast-growing under the right conditions and brings a tropical vibe to any indoor space with minimal fuss.

Care Plan

Light:
Bright, indirect light is ideal. Too much direct sun may burn the variegated areas, while too little light may reduce variegation and stunt growth.

Watering:
Allow the top 2–4 cm of soil to dry out between waterings. Avoid letting the plant sit in soggy soil—good drainage is key. Slightly less frequent watering is required in winter.

Humidity:
Prefers moderate to high humidity (50%+). Will tolerate standard indoor humidity but thrives with added humidity from a pebble tray or humidifier.

Temperature:
Ideal range is 18–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 12°C.

Soil:
Well-draining aroid mix with added perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir for airflow and moisture balance.

Fertiliser:
Feed monthly during the growing season (spring to early autumn) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding in winter.

Growth Habit:
A vining plant that benefits from a support pole or trellis to encourage upright growth and larger leaves.
