Philodendron Prince of orange variegated
Philodendron ‘Prince of Orange’ Variegated is a rare tropical foliage plant prized for its stunning blend of bright orange new growth and creamy white to yellow variegation. As the leaves mature, they transition through shades of copper, green, and deep emerald, creating a constantly changing display of colour. Compact and self-heading in growth habit, this philodendron makes an eye-catching indoor statement plant with a lush, architectural form.
Light
Bright indirect light is essential to maintain strong variegation and vibrant orange tones. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves, especially the lighter variegated sections. Lower light may reduce colour intensity and slow growth.
Water
Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry slightly between watering. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet, as philodendrons are prone to root rot.
Humidity
Prefers moderate to high humidity levels. Increased humidity encourages healthier foliage and helps prevent browning on variegated leaf edges. Ideal for indoor spaces with good airflow.
Temperature
Thrives in warm conditions between 18°C and 28°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
Soil
Use a well-draining, airy indoor plant mix rich in organic matter. A blend containing bark, perlite, and premium potting mix works well to support healthy root growth.
Fertiliser
Feed during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks. Reduce feeding during cooler months when growth naturally slows.
