Philodendron erubescens ‘Red Anderson’ is a rare and striking hybrid with beautifully variegated foliage. Its leaves display a mix of deep green, creamy white, and shades of pink to red, creating a unique contrast. The variegation can be unpredictable, making each leaf a work of art. The plant has an elegant, climbing growth habit, making it an excellent choice for trellises, moss poles, or hanging displays.
Care Plan
- Light: Bright, indirect light encourages strong growth and vibrant variegation. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out between waterings.
- Humidity: Prefers high humidity (above 60%) for optimal growth and variegation. Consider misting or using a humidifier.
- Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures between 18–27°C. Avoid exposure to cold drafts or temperatures below 15°C.
- Soil: A well-draining, chunky mix with orchid bark, perlite, and peat or coco coir works best.
- Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2–4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
- Support: Providing a moss pole or trellis will encourage larger leaves and better growth.
