Philodendron 'Whipple Way'
Philodendron 'Whipple Way' is an exceptionally rare and highly prized cultivar, best known for its stunning variegated foliage. The broad, heart-shaped leaves showcase a marbled blend of creamy whites, mint greens, and deep emerald tones, often with speckled or sectoral patterns. As a climbing variety, it produces increasingly larger leaves when allowed to grow vertically, developing into an impressive feature plant over time. Its rarity and dramatic appearance make it a must-have for serious collectors.
Care Plan
Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, while too little light may cause the variegation to fade.
Water
Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry between waterings. Avoid overwatering and ensure excellent drainage to prevent root issues.
Humidity
Prefers high humidity (60% or more), though it can adapt to moderate indoor levels. Mist occasionally or use a humidifier in drier environments.
Temperature
Best grown in temperatures between 18–28°C. Protect from cold temperatures and sudden drafts.
Soil
Use a loose, well-aerated mix suitable for aroids—such as a combination of potting mix, orchid bark, perlite, and charcoal.
Fertiliser
Feed monthly during the active growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding during the cooler months.
Growth Habit
This is a climbing philodendron and will benefit from a support such as a moss pole. Regular pruning can help maintain its shape and promote fuller growth.
