Philodendron Green Congo Variegata (Nuclear) is a striking variety of the Philodendron Congo with distinct variegation patterns. The plant boasts large, smooth, leathery leaves that exhibit vibrant green hues, complemented by patches of creamy white or yellow variegation. Its upright, bushy growth habit makes it an excellent choice for indoor settings, adding a tropical touch to any space. The variegation pattern in the "Nuclear" variety is known to be quite stable, producing a stunning contrast between the rich greens and the lighter variegated sections.

Care Plan for Philodendron Green Congo Variegata (Nuclear):

  • Light: This plant prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant variegation. While it can tolerate lower light conditions, the variegation may fade if kept in too much shade. Avoid direct sunlight, as this can cause leaf burn.

  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 2-3 cm (1 inch) of soil feels dry to the touch. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure the plant has well-draining soil and that excess water can escape from the pot.

  • Humidity: Like many tropical plants, the Philodendron Green Congo Variegata thrives in high humidity environments. Aim for a humidity level of 60-80%. If your home is dry, mist the leaves or use a humidifier to create a more suitable atmosphere.

  • Temperature: This Philodendron prefers warm temperatures between 18°C and 30°C . Keep it away from cold drafts and avoid placing it near air conditioning units or heaters.

  • Soil: Use a well-draining aroid mix or a blend of potting soil with added perlite and orchid bark to improve aeration and drainage.

  • Fertiliser: Feed the plant during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser every 4-6 weeks. Reduce feeding in the cooler months.

This was my first order with Enliven.
I ordered two plants. This Congo and a Princess Orange. I was very happy with the quality and size of the Congo. The Princess however, was tiny and had a couple of deep small brown marks on leaves (to old to be from transport). However, to be fair, variegation was quite good.
What was concerning was the packaging/shipping. When i carefully opened the box, there was soil everywhere. The Princess had come out of her pot completely during shipping and was just roots out, rolling around the entire box. The Congo was covered in some soil from the spilt pot, but was otherwise fine and secure in the box.
