Philodendron micans ‘Pink Mint’
A rare and eye-catching form of Philodendron micans, ‘Pink Mint’ is prized for its soft, velvety foliage and unusual variegation. New growth can display beautiful shades of pink, blush and creamy mint against deeper green leaves, with the characteristic shimmering texture that makes Micans so desirable. Its trailing or climbing growth habit makes it an impressive collector plant for shelves, hanging displays or trained up a support.
Light Bright, indirect light is recommended to encourage strong growth and maintain attractive variegation. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which may scorch the delicate foliage.
Water Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry between watering. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain freely. Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet.
Humidity Prefers moderate to high humidity. Around 60% humidity or higher can encourage healthy foliage and smoother unfurling of new leaves.
Temperature Thrives in warm conditions between 18–28°C. Protect from cold temperatures, drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Soil Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix containing ingredients such as quality potting mix, orchid bark, perlite and coco coir. Good aeration around the roots is important.
Fertiliser Feed every 4–6 weeks during active growth with a balanced liquid fertiliser at a diluted rate. Reduce feeding during cooler months when growth slows.
Additional Information Philodendron micans ‘Pink Mint’ is particularly valued for the combination of its signature velvety foliage and pink-to-mint variegation. Colour and variegation can vary considerably between individual plants and leaves, making each specimen unique. Providing bright filtered light, warmth and consistent care will help encourage healthy growth and showcase its distinctive colouring.
