Philodendron hederaceum 'Variegata'
The Philodendron Hederaceum 'Variegata' is a rare and stunning variety known for its heart-shaped leaves adorned with creamy white, lime, and mint green variegation. Its cascading vines make it perfect for hanging baskets, shelves, or climbing a support pole, adding a touch of elegance to any indoor jungle.
This plant is not just a showstopper—it's also low-maintenance, making it an excellent choice for beginners and seasoned plant parents alike.
Care Plan:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant variegation. Can adapt to lower light but may lose some of its striking colour. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil is dry. Keep the soil moist but never soggy, as overwatering can lead to root rot.
- Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity. Misting, grouping with other plants, or placing near a humidifier will enhance its growth.
- Temperature: Best grown in warm temperatures between 18-28°C. Avoid exposing it to cold drafts or temperatures below 15°C.
- Feeding: Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding during the cooler months.
- Pruning & Training: Prune as needed to maintain a compact shape or encourage fuller growth. It can be trained to climb a moss pole or left to trail naturally.
- Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as an aroid mix, to provide adequate moisture retention and aeration.
