Philodendron pedatum ‘Florida Beauty’ – Bare Bottom Baby
Description
Philodendron pedatum ‘Florida Beauty’ is a striking hybrid known for its deeply lobed, sculptural foliage splashed with creamy white, mint, and lime variegation. Each leaf displays its own unique marbling pattern, creating a living work of art. Care Plan
Light:
Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can burn the variegated sections. Too little light will reduce variegation and slow growth.
Water:
Keep the soil slightly moist but never soggy. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in cooler months when growth slows.
Humidity:
Thrives in high humidity (60%+). Mist occasionally or place near a humidifier or grouped plants to maintain consistent moisture in the air.
Temperature:
Prefers warm conditions between 20–28°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Soil:
Use a chunky, well-draining mix such as aroid blend with orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir to ensure aeration and prevent root rot.
Fertiliser:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength. Pause feeding during winter.
Growth Habit:
This Philodendron is a climber and will appreciate a support pole or moss totem to encourage larger, more mature leaves as it grows.
