Spathiphyllum Variegated
Spathiphyllum Variegated – Variegated Peace Lily
The Spathiphyllum Variegated is a striking cultivar of the classic Peace Lily, prized for its lush green foliage splashed with creamy-white to yellow variegation. Its broad, lanceolate leaves create a bold, tropical look, while the marbled patterns add a unique ornamental quality not found in the standard green form. In maturity, it produces elegant white spathes that contrast beautifully with the foliage, making it a popular choice for both homes and offices. Beyond its beauty, Spathiphyllum is also valued as an excellent indoor air purifier.
Care Plan
Light:
-
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation.
-
Will tolerate lower light conditions but with reduced leaf variegation and slower growth.
-
Avoid direct sunlight, which may scorch the leaves.
Watering:
-
Keep the potting mix evenly moist, allowing the top 2–3 cm to dry between waterings.
-
Do not allow the plant to sit in water as this can lead to root rot.
-
In warmer months, water more frequently; reduce watering in cooler months.
Humidity:
-
Thrives in moderate to high humidity.
-
Mist foliage or place near a humidifier if indoor air is dry.
Temperature:
-
Ideal range is 18–28 °C.
-
Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15 °C.
Soil / Potting Mix:
-
Use a free-draining, peat-based or premium indoor potting mix with added perlite or orchid bark for aeration.
Fertiliser:
-
Apply a balanced, liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer.
-
Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.
Maintenance:
-
Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust and maintain their shine.
-
Remove spent flowers and damaged leaves to encourage new growth.
-
Repot every 1–2 years, or when roots become pot-bound.
