Monstera standleyana ‘Cobra’
Description
Monstera standleyana ‘Cobra’ is a beautiful climbing aroid with glossy, elongated green leaves decorated with creamy-white speckles, streaks and splashes. Each leaf has its own distinctive pattern, making every plant unique. Its narrow foliage remains unsplit, offering an elegant tropical display as it climbs a support or trails from a shelf.
Care Plan
Light: Bright, indirect light. Protect from harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the pale areas of the leaves.
Water: Water when the top 2–3 cm of the mix feels dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Avoid leaving the pot standing in water.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally around 50–70%, with gentle airflow.
Temperature: Grows best in warm conditions around 18–28°C. Protect from cold draughts and temperatures below 15°C.
Soil: Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix that holds some moisture without remaining soggy.
Fertiliser: Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser at half strength every four weeks during active growth. Reduce feeding when growth slows.
Additional info: Provide a climbing support to encourage upright growth. Variegation naturally varies between leaves; brighter light supports healthy growth but does not guarantee more white colouring.
Monstera deliciosa ‘Mint’ — 70 mm
Description
Monstera deliciosa ‘Mint’ is a striking collector’s plant with soft mint-green, creamy-white and deeper green marbling. Every leaf displays a unique blend of colour. This 70 mm baby is a young plant, with foliage that will develop the characteristic splits and holes as it matures under suitable growing conditions. Its beautifully patterned leaves bring a fresh tropical touch to any collection.
Care Plan
Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, especially while the plant is young, as the lighter foliage can burn.
Water: Water when the top 1–2 cm of the mix begins to dry. Check this small pot regularly, as it can dry faster than a larger pot. Avoid letting the entire mix become bone dry or remain waterlogged.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally around 60–70%, with gentle airflow.
Temperature: Keep in a warm, stable position around 18–28°C. Protect from cold draughts and temperatures below 15°C.
Soil: Use an airy, well-draining aroid mix that retains enough moisture for a small plant without staying saturated.
Fertiliser: Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser at quarter to half strength every four weeks during active growth. Follow the product’s dilution instructions and avoid feeding dry soil.
