Syngonium podophyllum 'Confetti Tricolour' - Bare Bottom Baby
The Syngonium Confetti Tri Colour is a charming and vibrant variety of Syngonium, known for its unique and colourful foliage. The plant features arrow-shaped leaves that display a mix of light pink, cream, and green hues. The pink tones often appear as splashes or blotches, giving the plant its "confetti" look, while the green and cream colours form the base of the leaves. This small and compact plant is ideal for indoor spaces and adds a playful pop of colour to any collection.
Please note: These plants have been grown in seedling plug trays and therefore the root systems will not be as fully established as a larger pot size and will require extra attention. Plants are on average 5cm in length and photos on the website are indicative only. Please take this into consideration with each purchase of the Bare Bottom Babies. The dispatch team always pick the best plants that are available.
Care Plan:
1. Light:
- Ideal: Bright, indirect light is perfect for the Syngonium Confetti Tri Colour. This helps maintain the vibrant colours in its leaves.
- Tolerance: It can tolerate lower light conditions but may lose some of its bright colours.
- Avoid: Direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves and cause the pink hues to fade.
2. Watering:
- Frequency: Water the plant when the top 2-3 cm of the soil feels dry. During warmer months, this may be once a week.
- Method: Water thoroughly, allowing the excess water to drain out. Ensure the pot has proper drainage to prevent root rot.
- Winter Care: Reduce watering in winter, as the plant's growth slows down and it requires less moisture.
3. Humidity:
- Ideal: Syngonium's prefer higher humidity levels, around 60-80%.
- Enhance: If the air is dry, consider using a humidifier or placing the plant on a humidity tray. Mist the leaves occasionally to boost humidity.
4. Temperature:
- Optimal Range: Maintain a temperature between 18-25°C.
- Avoid: Keep the plant away from cold drafts and sudden temperature drops, as this can stress the plant.
5. Soil:
- Type: A well-draining potting mix is essential. A mix designed for aroids or a combination of peat, perlite, and orchid bark works well.
- pH Level: Slightly acidic to neutral soil, with a pH of 5.5 to 7.0.
6. Fertilising:
- Frequency: Feed the plant with a balanced, liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
- Pause: Fertilising can be reduced or stopped during the winter months when the plant is not actively growing.
