Syngonium Podophyllum 'Mojito' Description:

Syngonium podophyllum 'Mojito' is a unique and eye-catching variety known for its strikingly variegated leaves. The foliage features a marbled mix of deep green, lime green, and cream, often with speckles and splashes that resemble a mojito drink, hence the name. This arrowhead-shaped plant has a climbing or trailing habit, making it versatile as a potted plant, hanging plant, or trained on a support. The 'Mojito' is both hardy and easy to care for, making it popular with indoor gardeners who enjoy bold, decorative foliage.

Syngonium Podophyllum 'Mojito' Care Plan:

Light:

  • Prefers bright, indirect light to keep its variegation vibrant. Direct sunlight can burn the leaves, while too little light can cause the variegation to fade.
  • A spot near an east or north-facing window is ideal, or a few feet away from a south or west-facing window.

Watering:

  • Water when the top 2-3 cm (1 inch) of soil feels dry. The soil should be kept slightly moist but not soggy.
  • Water more frequently during the growing season (spring and summer) and reduce watering during winter when growth slows down.

Humidity:

  • Syngonium 'Mojito' thrives in moderate to high humidity (ideally above 50%). Low humidity may cause the leaf edges to brown.
  • Increase humidity by misting the plant regularly, using a humidifier, or placing the pot on a pebble tray filled with water.

Temperature:

  • Ideal temperature range is between 18°C and 27°C. Protect the plant from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C, as it can be sensitive to cold.

Soil:

  • Use a well-draining potting mix, such as a mix designed for aroids or tropical plants. A combination of regular potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark will provide the right balance of moisture retention and aeration.

Fertilising:

  • Fertilise with a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season. This will support healthy growth and maintain the plant’s vibrant variegation.
  • Reduce feeding during the winter months when growth slows.
